Frances Louise Mitchell passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Odessa Medical Center, at the age of 80. Visitation with the family will be from 68 PM Friday, February 19, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Clydell Chapman and her grandson Chad Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born November 22, 1929 to Lawrence and Agnes Vaden in Thurber, Texas. She graduated from Phillips High in Borger, Texas. She married Billy Wayne Mitchell on June 12, 1952 in Borger, Texas at the 10th Street Baptist Church. In 1957 she moved with her husband to Crane, Texas. She worked as a teachers aide, middle school secretary, as well as secretary to the Superintendent of Crane Independent School District for over 33 years. Louise had a deep passion to help out in her local community. She served in numerous organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, Crane Unit American Cancer Society, Statistician for Junior High and High School track meets, District 17 Vice President PTA, Life Time member of PTA, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Chairman Crane Board of Directors, Chairman Crane County Historical, and she loved performing in plays that benefited American Cancer Society.
Louise loved life to the fullest, she cherished every second she got with her family, and was an incredible artist. She truly made this world a better place because of the love she shared with all of humanity.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Mitchell of Odessa three sons, Jeff and wife Katta of Abilene, Dale and wife Deena of Katy, Ricky and wife Roxanna of Odessa seven grandchildren, Vonda and husband Eddie Fulton of Odessa, Brandy and husband Danny Dugger of Odessa, Casey and husband John Rogers of Odessa, Lindsay Mitchell of Midland, Devan Mitchell of Katy, Chad and wife Ashley Mitchell of Abilene, and Tate Mitchell of Katy eight great grandchildren, Wyate Coston of Odessa, Dillon Dugger of Odessa, Alexis Devore of Abilene, Blaice Prescott of Midland, Gavin Coston of Odessa, Cadyn Rogers of Odessa, Addison Rogers of Odessa, Maddy Dugger of Odessa two brothers, Lawrence and wife Barbara Vaden of Borger, and David and wife Barbara Vaden of Dublin four sisters, Maurine and husband D.E. Wilson of Lubbock, Cathy Garret of Odessa, Barbara and husband Carey Roach of Abilene, Nancy Holmes of Midland, and wonderful Sisterinlaws, Pansy Hill of Abilene and Myra Boykin of Lubbock.
