Just as dawn broke revealing a perfect West Texas sunrise on Monday, September 20,2021 Frank Irwin Edmiston peacefully left this world and was welcomed to Heaven at the beginning of this glorious new day. His adored Pat, as always, was right by his side.
Graveside services celebrating Frank’s extraordinary life are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Odessa, TX. Viewing will be available inside the Sunset Funeral home beginning at 11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Frank’s dear friend Dr. Tom Meek will officiate the celebration.
Frank was born in Orange, Texas on November 12, 1934, the first child of Billie Irwin and Eddie Lee (Speck) Edmiston. As a son of pioneer ranching families from Andrews and Schleicher Counties, Frank’s West Texas roots ran deep and he was extremely proud of this heritage.
Frank and Patsy Wishert were married on April 29, 1983 in Las Vegas, NV. They shared an amazing journey and their home was always the center of fun, food and love for their entire extended family and countless friends.
Frank is survived by his wife Pat, their daughters Patty Jones King and husband David “Bo” King of Plano, TX and Kelly Jean Edmiston and husband Dale Thompson of Odessa, TX; his beloved grandson Troy Hunter King and his cherished granddaughter Shelby Nichole King; his sister and brother in law Lindsay and Clif Zant, many dearly loved nieces and nephews, special cousin Phil Irwin and an abundance of dear friends including Jim and Kim Reed, Pat Knight and Tom and Marilyn Meek. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Penny Thompson and his brother William Hunter “Bill” Edmiston.
Frank was an Army veteran, a proud patriot, an entrepreneur, an avid hunter, consummate host, skilled marksman and outdoorsman. But most of all he was a loving husband, devoted son, proud Dad, and the very best PaPa, brother, Uncle Bubba and Friend. We will miss his wit and wisdom, his generosity and kind heart, his love and faithful friendship and his BBQ ribs and Frank Fries!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to HEROES, a camp and day program for children and adults with disabilities. Frank adored his granddaughter Shelby King and would be thrilled for a child with a disability to have the opportunity to go to camp. You may mail your donation to HEROES, 101 S. Coit RD Ste 36-348, Richardson, TX 75080 or contribute online at www.heroesdwf.org.
