Frankie Baulch

July 17, 1919 — May 4, 2015

Frankie Elizabeth Baulch was met at the pearly gates on May 4, 2015 by her beloved husband, Bates Baulch & oldest son, David Baulch.

She was born July 17, 1919, the 3rd child to John F. & Mary E. McClendon in Admiral, Texas. Sometime later, the family moved to Baird TX, where she attended and graduated from Baird schools. She was very active in school and participated in many activities. After graduation she began working for Callahan County Sheriff, Clarence Nordyke. It was during this time, on a blind date, set up by her friends, Harold & Helen Miller, that she met the man she would marry, Bates Baulch. She later found out from her mother-in-law that Bates told his mother after that date he had met the woman he would marry. Thus their love affair began.

It lasted through World War II while Bates was serving in the U S Army 42nd Division (known as the T-patchers) in Europe and North Africa. During this time she volunteered in the USO in Baird when the troop trains passed through on their way to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

Bates returned to the U.S. on September 1, 1944, and they were married September 10, 1944 in Abilene Texas. After completing his military service in McAlister, Oklahoma, they moved to Brownwood, TX where Bates began a 25 plus year career with International Harvester. It was in Brownwood that they began their family with the birth of Polly Anne and Janice Elizabeth.

In 1953 they moved to Coleman, TX where David Bates and Byron Rex were born. In 1962 they moved to Lovington, NM, where they lived until moving to Odessa, TX in 1971. Both Frankie and Bates raised their 4 children by example in a Christian home. Bates was a Deacon and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Frankie worked in pre-school for many years.

Frankie loved children and spent many hours in early childhood education in her various churches. She began at First Baptist Church in Brownwood, TX, continued at First Baptist Church in Coleman, TX, Lovington, NM, Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa, TX, completing her career at age 80 at The Childhood Development Center, First Baptist Church , Odessa, TX.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bates Baulch; her son, David Baulch as well as her parents and siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Polly and husband, Dennis Salyards, Janice Baulch and her son, Byron Baulch; 4 grandchildren, Stephen and wife Heather Harrison, James and wife Denelle Harrison, Sarah Baulch, J. T. and wife Sarah Baulch; 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Ryan and Shelby Harrison and Gracie Baulch and one great-great granddaughter, Mackenzie.
