Freddie Ray Gardner, age 77, of Odessa, TX, entered into the Gates of Heaven on September 29, 2014 at his home with the love of his life Pat and his grandchildren by his side.
Visitation is scheduled from 57 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled at 11 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Bill Cook and Chaplain Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Freddie was born in Vernon, TX to Pete and Florene Gardner on September 7, 1937. His family followed the oil boom to Odessa, TX in 1953. He attended Odessa schools. Freddie was a robust supporter of Odessa High Broncos. He met and married the one and only love of his life and only sweetheart, Patsy Bates on December 20, 1959 at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa. He was a faithful servant that led by exemplary example in his daily walk, not only as a husband but as a father and county leader and above all, as Papa.
His grandchildren were the joys of his life and the time he spent with family was valued and cherished. He taught his first grandbaby, Brittany to recite Jesus Loves the Little Children ending with Go Broncos, Fight Fight Fight He loved family above all. Through his struggle with cancer he continued to inspire so many with his strength and faith for the Lord our Savior.
Freddie is preceded in death by his parents and his little brother, Lonnie Gardner.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Patsy Gardner of Odessa, sons, Mike Gardner and wife Angela and Mark Gardner and wife Laura, both of Odessa, Mote Gardner and wife Robin of Lubbock, TX, five precious grandchildren, Brittany Smith and husband Scott and Bryce Gardner, all of Odessa, Brigetta, Brendan, and Brinley Gardner of Lubbock, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Wyatt of Odessa, special daughter by heart, Debbie Clay and the brotherhood of Odessa Fire fighters.
Pallbearers will be as follows Winston Dick, Roger Boyd, James Brunson, Dwayne Humble, Bryce Gardner, Jason Cotton, Dickey Corbell and Kevin Doan. Honorary pallbearers are H.C. Cotton, James Green, Gail Courtney, Jim Cotton, Pat Land, Scott Smith, John Patterson and Danny Wyatt.
