Surrounded by family, Freddy McKee gained his angel wings on February 13, 2022. After a long, hard battle with diabetes, he is now healed and free from pain.
His Military Memorial will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 13, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor David Newton of Crossroads Fellowship officiating.
Freddy was born to Raymond W. and Eva Lee McKee in Mineral Wells, Texas on August 24, 1944. He worked as a welder, and taught welding at Odessa Trade School before retiring from Phillips Petroleum in 1998 due to his health.
Freddy enlisted in the Army in 1961, at the age of 17. After basic training, he was stationed in Germany. During the Vietnam War, he served with the Army Core of Engineers. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Odessa, where he met his future wife, Nancy Klusmeyer. They were married on May 29, 1965, and then spent the rest of their lives living and working in Odessa.
Freddy enjoyed many things, but fishing and riding motorcycles were among his favorites. He was very proud of his first Harley, but over the years, he had many different motorcycles. He was also a Mason, and member of H.A. McFarland #1338.
Freddy is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond W. and Eva Lee (Jenkins) McKee; sister, Anna Childs; and brother, Bobby McKee.
Freddy is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Nicole (Darren); and grandchildren, Tyler, and Daniel, all of Arlington; his brothers, Bill (Sandy) Fallin of Odessa, and Richard (Mary) of Livingston; and sister, Linda (John)Latimer of Georgetown.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association in Lieu of flowers.
The family of Freddy McKee wishes to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to his doctors, and caregivers, as well other family members, and friends.
