Galen Honea, age 85, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Odessa.
She was born September 18, 1925 in St. Paul Minnesota to Mark E. Billings and Lucy Hicks Billings. She met Homer Honea in Tucson, Arizona on Cinco De Mayo in 1952 on a blind date, they were married one year later in 1953 on Cinco De Mayo in Tucson, Arizona and they were partners in life for 57 years. She taught school in Minnesota, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Hawaii, retiring in 1957. She was a member of D.A.R. Daughters of the American Revolution and was Past Matron of the Eastern Star, where she was a member for 43 years.
Survivors include her husband, Homer L. Honea of Odessa her sons, Homer Patrick Honea and wife Tammy of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jonathan Jared Honea and wife Michelle of Brownfield and three grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Larry Hood officiating.
