Garland “Vance” Ford, 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Vance was born in Monahans, Texas on June 17, 1956, to Al and Marie Ford. His family moved to Odessa shortly after and never left “home”. Vance was an only child, but enjoyed spending time with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. He was a proud 1974 graduate of Odessa High School. Immediately after high school, Vance went to work in the oil and gas industry igniting a passion for serving the Permian Basin. He dedicated 38 years to Drilco and ended his service to the Permian Basin as General Manager of Platinum Pipe Rentals.
On March 26, 1985, Vance married his beautiful bride, Beverly Melton. Vance is a beloved “Hey Daddy/Pop” to his children, Stacy, and Brandon. Vance is also a wonderful “Pawpaw” to Kenzee Doughty, Baker, Blake, and Boston Ford.
During high school, Vance discovered he had a love for woodworking, which he carried with him throughout his life. Vance was an avid hockey fan, spending his evenings watching games with his four-legged best friends. He was a man of few words, knew what he loved, and didn’t require much from the world. Vance placed his faith in Christ at an early age and fulfilled his calling to serve others.
Vance is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Stacy, and husband Brian Doughty of Pampa; son, Brandon, and wife Bailey of Odessa, as well as four adoring grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Wednesday, February 16, 2022, with Dr. David Evans officiating.
