Geneva was born January 6th, 1916 on a rental farm two miles from Miles, Texas where she lived until she was ten years of age. Her father then purchased their family farm where she lived until she graduated from Miles High School in 1934. Her favorite subjects included English and Arithmetic. She met Duane DeShazo her husband of 66 years at the age of 16. She said,” The secret to a long and happy marriage was to try and please each other.” She discontinued Nursing School to marry Duane DeShazo August 30, 1941 and move to California where they lived until 1946. After the birth of Michael in 1943 and LouRee they moved to San Angelo and lived there until 1958. Duane went to work in Odessa in 1957 and the family followed in 1958 and she and Duane lived there until their last days. She once said “The most important thing in life is having a relationship with our Savior.”
