George B. Harrill, age 89, of Odessa, TX, passed away on January 23, 2018 in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be at 4:00 pm, January 27, 2018, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Byron McWilliams, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Odessa, officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 pm, prior to services.
George was born in Avondale, NC, to Dock Claude Harrill Sr. and Dovie Eugenia Harrill on July 28, 1928. George grew up in North Carolina with his six brothers and sisters. He served in the Army as a Corporal in the 13th Infantry during the Korean War. George married the love of his life, Barbara Donham Harrill, on April 5, 1952, in Rutherford, NC. He later moved to West Texas where he raised his family and earned his Associates Degree at Odessa College.
George spent his career working faithfully for thirty years for Texas Electric. After retirement, he served as a Legislative Aid to David Counts, Texas State Representative and finished his career in real estate. George was community oriented serving as a Church Deacon, President of the Board of Directors of Chamber of Commerce of Andrews, TX and was an active Kiwanis and Rotary Club volunteer among many, many other clubs and organizations.
George is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister, and a grandson.
George is survived by his children, Michael Harrill, Wanda Watson, and Thomas Harrill. As well as three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
