On Friday, February 26, 2021 at the age of 77, our dearly beloved George Anna Smith was called home to reclaim her legs and gain her wings by our Lord.
She leaves behind a beautiful family of youth and vigor; her two children, Christopher, and Melissa; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Also leaving behind her younger brother, Billy Charles Alexander.
She was born in Abilene, Texas nearing the end of WWII on December 17, 1943 to Ruthie and Adair Alexander. At the age of 5 she was diagnosed with the polio virus, losing her ability to walk, paralyzed from the waist down.
Not to be discouraged she would go on to live not only a normal life, but one of perseverance with an undying true love for her family. She would learn to drive using hand controls never receiving as much as a speeding ticket. In 1962 she graduated Permian High School. After which she would marry her one and only husband, Billy Joe Smith, until he tragically passed away in 1997 of a heart attack.
During the span of her life, she would work only two jobs, one as a bank teller and the other as an accountant for Sears at the Music City Mall for 25+ years.
She was and is loved dearly. Though she will be missed, her legacy will remain intact for all those she loved who came after her.
We love you Georgie.
We pray that you will watch over us now that you are
in heaven as much as you did here on this Earth.
Until we see you again.
God bless your beautiful soul!
Thank you for dedicating your life to those of us whom you loved.
