Geraldine Wilkerson

Surrounded by her family, Geraldine Wilkerson passed away on Friday, March 19th at Odessa Regional Medical Center. She was 76 years old.

She was born in Kilgore, Texas on October 11, 1933 to Smith and Jewel Prickett. She married G.A. Jerry Wilkerson on February 3, 1951 in Kilgore, Texas. They moved to Odessa in the spring of 1956. She and Jerry were married for 59 years.

Geraldine took pride in being a housewife and taking care of her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her pride and joy. We fondly called her Mom, Mama, Grandma, and Nana. She was lovingly called Grandma by our extended families and friends, and truly enjoyed that endearment. She could not wait to be a greatgrandmother, as anyone knows who was around her for these past few months. Her first greatgrandchild is due in September, and we know that she will be in Heaven telling everyone about the newest addition to her family.

She truly loved life, whether it be cooking and watching you enjoy her great food, decorating her home for every holiday, driving around looking at Christmas lights, watching the fireworks on July 4th, sitting outside watching the family dog play, feeding and counting her turtles, watching the birds, listening to gospel and country music, MOJO football, or letting her grandchildren turn the backyard into a tball, baseball or football field or sometimes a basketball court.

Geraldine had been a member of Sherwood Baptist Church since July 19, 1968.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Jewel Prickett, and her sisterinlaw, Peggy Prickett.

She is survived by her husband, G.A. Jerry Wilkerson of Odessa son Jerry Michael Wilkerson and his wife Delana Lana of Odessa, son Grady Lynn Wilkerson and his wife Michele of Sugarland, daughter Melanie Miles and her husband Randy of Round Rock grandchildren Jason Wilkerson and his wife Ellen of Odessa, Darren Wilkerson and his wife Erin of Odessa, Ryan Wilkerson of Houston, Kyle Wilkerson of Houston, Kelly Wilkerson of Houston, and Lane Miles of Round Rock brother Graham Prickett of Odessa and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, March 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church, with Ivy Shelton of Sherwood Baptist Church and Penney Nichols of 6th and Jackson Church of Christ officiating. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Jason Wilkerson, Darren Wilkerson, Ryan Wilkerson, Lane Miles, Kyle Wilkerson, Tyler Henry, and Stephen Thomas.

A special thanks to Dr. Jayaram Naidu and his staff for taking care of Geraldine for many years. We would also like to thank the entire staff of Odessa Regional Medical Center East, especially Julie and Saundra in ICU, for their tender loving care.
