Geri Swindler was born on October 14, 1922 in Eldorado, Oklahoma and returned to her loving husband of over 50 years, Richard, on December 9, 2011.
After her mothers death at a very young age, she was raised by her sisters, Thelma and Zelpha, in Enid, Oklahoma. She met her husband, Richard Quay, at a USO dance. She liked to say, He asked me to dance, and was stuck with me ever since. They moved to Odessa in 1947 where they raised two successful children. In her earlier years, Geri loved to cook, sew, and was an active member of the Home Demonstration Club and Republican Women. She was also a volunteer at the Ellen Noel Art Museum. Geri was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Odessa. She attended Odessa College and breezed through every accounting course she could take.
Geri is survived by a daughter, Linda Watson, and her husband Bill of Whitney, Texas a son, Mark, and his wife, Kathy of Odessa two granddaughters, Kristi Scates, and husband Aaron of Dallas, Texas, Apryl Jordan and husband Steve of Houston, Texas four great grandchildren, Maci and Isabel Scates, Garrett and Jackson Jordan.
She is also survived by step grandchildren, Anne Armendariz and her children, Angelica and Keaton of Odessa, and Bryan Williams and wife Danielle of San Antonio.
She was loved by all who knew her, including her extended family at Parks Methodist Retirement Village where she lived for the past 7 years. The family is eternally grateful to the staff of Parks Assisted Living, Home Hospice and Comfort Keepers.
Services will be held on Friday, December 16, at 11am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mark Swindler, Bill Watson, Aaron Scates, Steve Jordan, Bryan Williams and Chuck Eudy.
