Gertrude Johnson

Gertrude Dora Johnson, 97, of Midland, Texas passed away on August 26, 2021, at her home.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Skip Hedgpeth officiating.

Gertrude was born in Pony Creek, Texas to Albert and Marie Heiser on September 7, 1923. She married Fred E. Johnson on November 23, 1945, in Weatherford, Texas. She owned her own drapery business for many years and was a gifted seamstress. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Midland. Previously she was a charter member of Central Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas for many years.

Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Johnson, her daughter, Sandra Lee, her great granddaughter Sandy Franklin, and her great grandson, Colton Miller. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Gertrude is survived by three children, Linda Johnson Lyon of Midland, Earl Johnson and wife Becky of Midland, and Donnie Johnson and wife Diana of Odessa. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Bobby Franklin wife Jennifer, Rusty Franklin wife Kim, Missi Johnson wife Tatia, Amy Johnson, Patrick Johnson wife Stephanie, Kyle Johnson, Kimberly Wells husband Jason, Courtney Drennan husband David, Jason Miller and wife Kayla, and Jared Miller and wife Meagan; sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and a host of friends. Each of us was blessed by her unconditional love.

A special thank you to her niece Nina Gail Heiser for her love and care especially in the final week of her life. We also thank Home Hospice nurses Stephanie and Brooke and chaplain Skip who loved Gertrude and extended wonderful care for over two years.
