Glenys Lilian Aldum Ferguson, age 92, of Odessa, passed away Friday September 27, 2013 in Odessa.
Glenys was born in Neath, Wales on February 8, 1921. She was raised in Carmarthen, Wales. She served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service ATS from 19421945 as a search light operator during the London Blitz. She later met and married Sgt. Roy Freddie Ferguson who served in the 8th Army Air Force at Podington Air Base on Dec. 4, 1944. When asked why she would leave her country and family for a man she only knew a few weeks, she said, because what if I dont and regret it She arrived in Carlsbad, NM in March 1946 and moved to Odessa in 1958. She went on to have a very happy, full life
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy on March 10, 1981, her parents John Aldum and Florence Woodman Aldum, sister May Cox, and brother Christopher George Aldum of Wales and England.
She is survived by her two sons Marvin Ferguson of Odessa and Gary Ferguson and wife Cheryl Gooding Ferguson, grandson Christopher Ferguson, granddaughters Catherine Ferguson and Caroline Ferguson Brown and husband Steve and great grandson Hunter Colbert all of Odessa, brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw Truman and Phyllis Ferguson of Carlsbad, NM, five nephews and their families in America, and three cousins and their families in England.
The family would like to thank Maureen Vaughan and Leah Mueller of Mos Country Living Respite Care in Andrews, Tx. for taking such good care of Glenys for the last year of her life.
