Gloria (Yoya) Juarez Holguin, 81, of Pecos, passed away on August 5, 2024, in Odessa.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Monday, August 12th, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 12th, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Midland, Texas, with Father Bala Anthony Govindu of St. Stephens Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas, next to her husband, George Alatorre Holguin. Arrangements are made by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Gloria was born in Marfa, Texas to Paula Hernandez and Francisco Juarez on April 30, 1943. She was raised by her great-aunt, Dorotea Galindo. She attended elementary school in Marfa. She married George Alatorre Holguin on May 6th, 1962, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas. She was not able to attend school and did not graduate from high school, but she worked for and successfully received her GED. Gloria remained a homemaker, devoted wife and mother most of her life.
She worked at the Pecos Garment Factory and at a wash & dry/cleaners. She drove buses for the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD from 1984-1989.
Gloria is preceded in death by her mother’s Dorotea Galindo and Paula Hernandez, sisters Elva Galindo, Ida Galindo, loving husband George Alatorre Holguin, and son Edward Juarez Holguin.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Barbara Juarez Holguin and partner Jo Ann Almager of Odessa, Imelda Holguin Williams and spouse Brian Keith Williams of Kermit, Rebecca Holguin Dominguez of Midland; her sister, Irene Galindo of Pecos; grandchildren, Phillip Ryan Williams and wife Korina Urias Williams, Marcus Denzel Williams, Justin Holguin Dominguez and wife Courtney Renee Dominguez, Zariah Holguin Jurado, Jarek Nicolas Holguin Jurado, and Zyra Holguin Jurado; great-grandchildren, Daylen, Briseis, Ezra, & Calliope Williams and Alita Dominguez.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Williams, Justin Dominguez, Jo Ann Almager, George Dominguez, Brian Keith Williams, & Jarek Jurado.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Marcus Denzel Williams and Victor Martel.
