Gordon M. Gaston passed away January 14, 2012 at his home 33 Sandia Court, Odessa TX where he lived with his wife, Doris, and daughter and son, Charle and Wayne Scott. Gordon was born April 13, 1918 in White Deer, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Irene Staats, on December 25, 1941. Following a tour with the United States Army, Gordon spent his entire career with Dorchester Corporation, first as a gasoline plant operator and then as superintendent of three gasoline plants. The family followed Dorchester from the Texas Panhandle to Hooker, Okla, then to Big Lake and Sterling City in West Texas and then back to Pampa where Gordon retired in 1983. Mr. Gaston was a selfeducated leader who gained the respect of his colleagues for his work ethic and integrity. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and billiards player. Local friends will remember him at the Northside Senior Center where he loved to play pool and work on the billiard tables. During their marriage, Gordon and Doris were active in a variety of bridge clubs and Masonic lodges. Gordon was a degreed Mason and a member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Odessa. He loved to read the Bible and he had a special kinship with soninlaw, Wayne Scott. His beloved wife will remember a 70 year relationship with a man who was a devoted husband and companion. His only daughter will remember a Daddy who set a good example, always told the truth, paved the way for her higher education, and loved to win at a card game. His grandchildren will remember Poppy for his quick wit and zeal for life.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Pearl Gaston, one sister, Lee Iva Bergeron, two brothers, Burl Gaston and Bob Gaston and one granddaughter, Tracy Scott Dickerson. Survivors include his wife, Doris, daughter Charleen Charle Scott and her husband Wayne, a sisterinlaw, Dolores Gaston, grandchildren Christi and Robby Brown, Shayne and Rodney Adcock, five great grandchildren, Jordan, Hayden, and Madison Brown, Jay T and Kye Adcock, all of Odessa, nieces and nephews Sharon Rogers of Midland, Sidney and Robert Bergeron of Louisiana, Bob R Gaston of Carlsbad NM, a beloved extended family including brothersinlaw Aaron, Don, Harolddeceased, and Walter Staats with all their respective families.
A private family graveside service is pending at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Dr. and Mrs. R. J. Patel and their staff for their longtime, exceptional medical care, and to Susan and the nursing staff at MCHs Blood Transfusion Service, and to Star Homecare Service, as well as many friends and relatives who traveled Mr. Gastons life journey with him.
