Grace Gracie Mae Baker, age 74, of West Odessa, left this earth on Thursday, July 15, 2010. She is now in a more beautiful and peaceful place with her heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. Grace, also known as Nana and Grandma to her family, loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, fishing, being outdoors and taking care of her dog, Abby. Grace always put her kids and grandkids first. She would do anything for them and spoiled them all rotten. She set an amazing example for her family to follow.
She was born on October 26, 1935 to John Reese Gibby and Alfa Gladys Bamburg Gibby in Caddo, Oklahoma, the oldest girl of eight children. Grace Mae Baker was a survivor. She was mother to many and a friend to all never meeting a stranger and always willing to help a friend in need.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Kathy Swinney and husband Don Swinney her son, Phillip Baker and wife Jane Baker, their daughter Samantha her grandchildren, Sjanna Drum and husband Bobby Drum and their daughter, Sydni, Brandon Swinney and wife Alicia and their son Kai, Shelby Marquez and husband Mo and their daughter Steelie Grace, Crystal Lopez and her husband Oscar and their children Lydia and Diego her brother Richard Darrell Gibby and sisters, Dorothy Sue Stephens and Susie Baker Creech.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Earl, who passed away in 2002 after 50 wonderful years of marriage with Grace her parents and brothers, Alford Lee Gibby and Kenneth Leonard Gibby and sister, Doris Jean Maxey.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Oscar Lopez officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In closing, we will truly miss our Nana, her spicy, spunkiness and go getter attitude as well as her occasional stubbornness which can be seen from time to time in all of us. WE LOVE YOU NANA.
