Gray Burges

Gray Sparks Burges, age 77 passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Gray was born September 24, 1933 in Perico, Texas to Tabitha Sparks and Wiles Burges. He was raised in Spearman, Texas with three sisters, Elizabeth Vincent, Anita Janzen and Vivian Witt and brothers, Claude and J.W. Burges, all of whom preceded him in death.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958. While stationed in England, he met and married Meg Burges. They traveled the world together until his retirement after 22 years of serving his country.

After settling in Odessa, he began his second career at CabotIngersol Rand and prided himself on knowing everything about their inventory. He retired after twenty years of service.

Gray then began his third career as a distinguished coffee drinker at Pojos. He joined his Pojos family twice a day to meet and conduct the business of the day. His quick wit and kindness will be missed.

He is survived by 12 nieces and nephews and other family members.

A family visitation will be held from 57 PM Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
