Harold Carl The Crazy Dutchman Bauer, 75 of Odessa died at his home on Thursday, May 21, 2009. Memorial services were held Friday, May 22, 2009 at Grace Christian Fellowship with Pastor Clark Racca officiating.
Mr. Bauer was born in Fredricksburg, TX on October 2, 1933 to Paul August and Ida Ruby Vollmar Bauer. The family moved to Kerrville where he was reared and educated. He was active in the FFA, boxing and football, where he was known as the Phantom. He is a 1952 graduate of Tivy High School. He married Rose Lane Beaver in Kerrville on August 8, 1953 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Harold began his career as an apprentice electrician and electrician with Kerrville Electric. The Bauers moved to Odessa in November 1955 and he joined Foreman Electric. He was co-owner of A H Electric from 1958 to 1966, and then worked for Brown Electric, RefChem, Wallace Electric, Joe Johnson Electric, Stardust Homes, and Brown Electric. In October 1979 he established the family business known as Bauer Electric. He served in the 8th US Army Corp Reserve earning the rank of Sgt. from 1952 to 1960.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lee Bauer and Roland Bauer, sisters; Ruby Donburg and Lillian Bull.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Rose Lane Bauer of Odessa, daughter Rosemary Gwin of Dallas, TX, son Michael Carl Bauer of Odessa, and daughter Donna Bauer and her husband Jeff Barnes of North Richland Hills, TX. Brothers; Benno Bauer and his wife Ruby, of Kerrville, Eddie Bauer and his wife Susie of Kerrville, and Paul Bauer, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Irvine, CA. Sisters; Pauline Chappell of San Antonio and Mary Jane Council of Kerrville, five grandchildren Janette, Rose, Jessica, Erhn, Stephanie, five great-grandchildren Caitlyn Rose, Emily Marie, Thomas, James, and Faith.
