Harold Ray Tomlinson, age 67, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 in Odessa.
He was born October 27, 1942 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Arlie Spec Herald Tomlinson and Lillian Leo Lane Tomlinson. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1961 and married Cynthia Kay Bredemeyer on September 24, 1965 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He served in the United States Army 3rd Armor Division Spearhead in Frankfurt Germany from 1965 to 1967. He graduated from the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1968. He moved to Odessa in 1968 and became a member of Bethany Christian Church at that time. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Odessa. He retired from National Oil Well Service.
He loved to sing and play his guitar. He got a great kick out of playing poker with his family including his brotherinlaw, Charlie Bredemeyer and motherinlaw, June Bredemeyer, especially beating her poker hand
In his retirement years, he became a Texas Master Gardner and actively worked on the landscaping environment around Odessa and the CAF Garden and Compost Garden. He loves flowers and worked decades at his backyard flower beds.
Being an only child, he is survived by his three children, Seven Wade Tomlinson, Sara Shade Tomlinson and Chance Blade Tomlinson and his wife Lori Denise Phillips Tomlinson his grandson Britain Xavier Tomlinson of Hartsville, South Carolina his granddaughter, Lillian Grace Tomlinson of Odessa a cousin Connie Larmon and her husband Jim Larmon of Hobbs, New Mexico and his many sistersinlaw, brothersinlaw, nieces, nephews, cousins and great nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased in death by his father Arlie Spec Herald Tomlinson, his mother Lillian Leo Lane Tomlinson and his beloved dog of 17 years, Puddy.
Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, October 22, 2010 at Bethany Christian Church with Rev. Keith Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Bredemeyer, Dale Battreal, Alvin Dunn, Luther Smith, George Burgess, Bobby Sandefer, Matthew Burgess, and Renno McGuire. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hancock and Ed Norcutt.
