Harry Hamilton

April 14, 1921 — August 11, 2011

Harry George Hamilton, age 90, of Odessa was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 11, 2011 while resting peacefully at the Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born April 14, 1921 in New York, NY. Harry graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1943 with a BBA in Accounting. He also completed Naval Supply Corps School at Wellesley, MA. He proudly served his country during WWII as a Naval Supply and Disbursing officer both ashore and afloat and achieved the rank of Lieutenant, jg. During his tenure in the service he was awarded 5 ribbons and one star. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Harry worked as a Certified Public Accountant and retired from OlmsteadKirk Paper Company in Dallas, Texas in 1986.

There are many activities Harry enjoyed in his retirement including gardening, photography, reading, watching sports events on TV, and getting together with family. He and his wife Mary Jane moved from the Hideaway Lake community outside of Tyler, Texas in 2004 to Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa where he served on various committees and for a time as the official event photographer. Harry was a very friendly man and almost always had a smile on his face.

Harry is survived by his wife Mary Jane Faulkner Hamilton of Odessa step children Jeanne Quereau of Austin, Texas, George Faulkner and his wife Beverly of Los Alamos, NM, Diana Jackson and her husband Ric of Longview, Texas, David Faulkner and his wife Kathy of Flowermound, Texas, Nancy Mason and her husband Mike of Midland, and Brian Gauvreau of Seattle, Washington. He also leaves behind 14 Grandchildren and 5 GreatGrandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Harrys brother Hugh Hamilton, sister Betty Griffith, second wife Isabel Sybil Hamilton, son Scott Hamilton, and step son Richard Gauvreau all preceded him in death.

Visitation with the family will be come and go at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 at Mission Dorado Baptist Church, with Jared Wellman officiating. Interment will take place at Restland Memorial Park on Greenville Avenue at Restland Road in Dallas, Texas at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the staff members who had any part in caring so lovingly for Harry during his final days of life on Earth at Medical Center Hospital, Regency Hospital, and Hospice House of Odessa, Texas.
