Harry Nix

Harry David Nix, age 85, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at his home in Odessa. Normally this is a day dedicated to chocolates and roses and dates with your Valentine. This year we look at it a little differently. Harry chose this daya day dedicated to love because he loved each and every one of us so completely and unconditionally. We will now have a yearly gift to remind us of his infinite love.

Harry was born October 20, 1925 in Merit, Texas to Earnest Brooks Nix and Oma Jane Brown Nix. Harry joined the Army in January 1944 and served until June 1946. On April 6, 1956 he married Bobbie Tilson. He lived in Odessa and worked for Bridon American Steel for 30 years until he retired in 1983. He also ran his own business Boes Janitorial Service until 2009 when he retired completely. Harry was a member of Life Change Baptist Church and loved his church with a passion.

Harry was preceded in death by his father and mother and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie three daughters, Cathy Barrett and husband Richard of Keller, Texas, Denise McHorse and husband Mike of Odessa, Texas and Debbie Hamrick and husband Robert of Odessa, Texas a sister, Billie Phariss of Odessa, Texas six grandsons and one granddaughter, five great granddaughters and two great grandsons Kelly Gray and husband Jeff and daughter, Bailey Jamison Shults and daughters, Olive and Makenna Justin Shults and wife Laurie and daughter, Kate and sons Will and Benn Ryan Connell and wife Kendall and daughter Payton David Hamrick Brooks Hamrick and Taylor Barrett.

Visitation will be 4:306:30 PM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Life Change Baptist Church with Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be donated to the Building Fund of Life Change Baptist Church, 1003 N. Texas in Odessa, Texas 79761.
