Harry Wilkerson

Harry M. Wilkerson, age 80 of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in Odessa.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home from 68 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Pastor Don Norris of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Harry was born in Villa Rica, Georgia to Harry and Reba Wilkerson on November 23, 1933. He went to school in Villa Rica. He married Joanne Morris on September 5, 1954 in Villa Rica, Ga. He worked as a Director of the Odessa Boys Club from 1962 until his retirement in 1974. After his retirement he continued his service to the Boys Club through his participation as a trustee of the Village Place Charitable Trust. He also was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church and in 2012 the Central Unit of the Boys Club was renamed the Wilkerson Unit in his honor.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, sister and infant daughter.

Harry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne, daughter, Cheryl and husband Kelly Speer, daughter, Dianne H. Crawford five granddaughters, four grandson in laws and fifteen great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to The Odessa Boys and Girls Club.
