Helen Marie Choate, 84, of Odessa, Texas went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 13, 2012.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Jimmy Braswell will be officiating. Interment will follow the service. Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Helen was born in Coleman, Texas on March 16, 1928 and grew up in Gouldbusk, Texas. She graduated from Mozelle High School.
Helen married Everett Kidd in 1946 they were married 16 years until he passed away from an automobile accident. She married Garland Choate in 1964 they were married for 34 years until he lost his life to cancer.
Helen proudly took her role of wife and mother seriously and cherished the opportunity to be a lady of leisure. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and friend. She loved telling stories and talking on the phone late at night. Jerry would have to tell her to get off the phone, its late and she would just giggle. She enjoyed spoiling her son and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and was so thankful on the days she was able to make it with her dear friend Nelda.
Helen is survived by son Jerry Kidd and wife Lori of Odessa. Three grandchildren: Cody Kidd and wife Rebecca of Odessa Terra Carilli and husband Bobby of Orlando, Florida Savannah Porter of Odessa. Two great grandchildren: Robert and Christopher Carilli of Orlando, Florida. Sister: Maureen McClellan of Odessa and a Brother: Steve Fenton and wife Hope of Odessa and many family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Louise Fenton, her first husband, Everett Kidd, her second husband, Garland Choate, her brother Andy Fenton and daughter in law Vickie Kidd.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society. The family of Helen wishes to thank the 6th floor staff of Regency Hospital.
Helen will be greatly missed by all.
