Helen Louise Coggins passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013.
Helen was born in Swifton, Arkansas on June 3, 1922, to Otto Fred and Ruby Norman Snow. Helen graduated from Swifton High School and attended Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas where she met the love of her life, Clifford Lowell Coggins, Sr. They were married Feb. 6, 1943 at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston, Texas and made their home in Odessa raising 5 children and sharing 61 years together before his passing Dec. 30, 2002. Helen was an accomplished seamstress and artist. Upon retirement from Cobbs Department Store in 1984 she enjoyed playing bridge and devoted a lot of her time to her gift in oil painting and acrylics achieving first prize at the 1984 Permian Basin Fair. She was a member of Sixth and Jackson church of Christ.
Helen is survived by one son, Clifford Sonny Coggins Jr. and his wife Linda of Odessa daughters Claudia Hobbs and her husband Tommy of Webster, TX and Iris Coggins Riggs and her husband Kevin of Odessa. Helen is also survived by one brother, Norman Otto Snow of North Little Rock, AR., eight grandchildren Laura Coggins Hinds, Clifford Coggins, III, Shawn Edney, Stephen Edney, Jennifer Hobbs Tharp, Lori Hobbs Scott, Bryce Riggs, Clark Riggs and eighteen cherished greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Patti Jon Coggins and Wanda Coggins Edney, as well as one brother, Harold Brian Snow and one sister, Mildred Snow Moreno.
Family Visitation is planned for Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 from 5 7 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minister Lynn Money officiating.
