Helen Hetzler

Helen Ruth Hetzler, age 76, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Odessa.

She was born March 8, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to Haskell Floyd Mayo and Ruby McMasters Mayo. She was the second child of six. She married Bill Hetzler February 12, 1953 in Kansas. She has lived in Odessa since 1972. She was an awesome cook and loved cooking for everyone. She liked her garden and her tomato plants. She canned food and won numerous ribbons at the country fair. She was also an avid humming bird watcher. In her younger years, she loved dancing, playing games and partying with her friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, William Preston Hetzler of Odessa children, William Michael Hetzler of Belvue, Washington, Vickie Hetzler of Odessa, and Jeffery Hetzler of Odessa grandchildren, Katrina and husband Rusty, Kara and husband Tyrell, Marissa and husband Dusty, Brannan Hetzler, Mycha Hetzler, Brock Hetzler, and Brad Hetzler great grandchildren Merrick, Macyn, and Skye sisters, Janice and husband LeeRoy Nieman, and Lois McDougal brother, Bobby and wife Carolyn Mayo and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Friday, July 29, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wiese officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Russell LaBruyere, Randy LaBruyere, Brad Hetzler, Skyler Smith, Greg Nieman, and Reggie Lawrence.

The family requests memorials be made to Childrens Miracle Network, 501 N. Golder, Odessa, Texas 79761.
