Henrietta Elder

Henrietta Elder (known to most as Granna), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the age of 76. 

She was born May 8, 1948, in Alpine, TX to Henry Britt and Della Williams. She will be remembered for her endless love and strength for her family. She dedicated her life to her family, always there with open arms and a warm embrace. She loved to design and make clothing for her children and grandchildren.

Henrietta is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Billy Joe Elder and their daughters; Tywilla and her husband, Anthony of Odessa, TX, Kandi and her husband, Wade of Burleson, TX, Tina and Carolyn of Stephenville, TX, Carol and her husband, Benjamin of Lubbock, TX. She is also survived by one sister and one brother, Dorothy and her husband, Don of Royse City, TX and Smokey and his wife, Pam of Iraan, TX; her grandchildren, Forrest and his wife, Danielle, Hunter, Jade, Bryanna, Trista, Sheena, Christine, Joann, Justin, Jesse, and Matthew; along with seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and only son, Billy Joe Jr.; one of her daughters, Donna; and seven siblings, David, Lois, Jo, Carl, Dolly, Nig, and Bernice.

Pallbearers will be Hunter and Anthony Meadors, Wade and Lee Zemlock, Faron Gryder, and Jose Flotte. Honorary pallbearers will be Forrest Meadors and Bryanna Zemlock.

Visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Friends and family of Granna are respectfully invited to attend the commemoration of life at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
