Henry Fischer

December 28, 1927 — April 30, 2013

Henry Harrell Fischer, 86, passed away from a long illness on April 30, 2013 in Odessa, Texas.

A celebration of his life will be held at Highland United Methodist Church in Odessa on Saturday, May 4 at 4 pm. Dot Lea will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, May 3 from 57 PM at Sunset Gardens Funeral Home.

Henry was born on December 28, 1927 in Throckmorton, Texas to Mary Dimple and George Fischer. They lived on a large farm with his brothers George, Jr., Doug, Barry, and Joe.

He graduated from Plainview High School and served his country in the Army during World War II.

He attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship and received a degree in Agriculture. He married the love of his life Catherine Calvert on July 17, 1952. They lived in Tyler and Houston before moving to Odessa.

He worked in the oilfields of West Texas as a chemical salesman and retired from NL Industries after twenty five years.

He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and delivered Meals on Wheels.

He enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing, gardening, hunting, reading, traveling, woodworking, and watching Texas Tech sporting events.
We will miss his sense of humor, patience, and loving demeanor.

Pallbearers will be Brian Fischer, Gary Fischer, Greg Walker, Kyle Walker, Matthew Walker and Ricky White.

He is survived by his wife Kay, children, Brian of Odessa, Caren and her husband Greg of Aledo and Gary and his wife Laura of Wake Forest, NC. Grandsons Kyle and Matthew of Aledo, Tx.
