Herman Gerald Beaty, 82, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Odessa.
Visitation will be from 6:008:00 pm Tuesday August 19, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday August 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Byron McWilliams and Reverend Curtis Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Gerald was born in Wheeler, TX to Herman Esmon Beaty and Bessie Rose Long on July 18, 1932. Gerald was raised in Wheeler and Pampa, TX. He went to school in Wheeler and graduated in 1951 from Pampa High School. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 44 years in the plants at Pampa, Andrews and Goldsmith, TX. He retired as a Gathering Systems Operator in Seminole, TX in 1995. He served in the US Army from 19531955 and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX in the guided missels. While living in Seminole, he served in the camera ministry filming church services on Sunday. He has been a member of First Baptist Church in Odessa since 1995.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Bessie Beaty, inlaws Herman and Virgie Robertson, brothers Eugene Beaty, Richard Don Beaty and grandson Daniel Beaty.
Gerald is survived by his wife Barbara Beaty of 62 years sons Dr. Ray Beaty and wife Roxann of Odessa, Bryan Beaty of Lubbock grandchildren Michelle Beaty of Odessa, Sarah Beaty of Lubbock, and Timothy Beaty of San Angelo greatgranddaughter Daniella Beaty of Lubbock sister Larue Morton and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the West Texas Parkinsons Foundation 3610 22nd St., Ste. 300, Lubbock, TX 79710 as well as Home Hospice 516 N. Texas, Odessa, TX 79761.
