Howard Cleo Houston passed away on July 23, 2021.
He was born in Clovis, New Mexico on December 13th, 1938, to Fred Cleo Houston and Kathryn Morgan Houston. Howard grew up and attended school in Clovis, where he graduated high school. He later moved to Odessa, Texas with his wife and children. He was active in community organizations including the Lions Club International, Optimist Club, and Rotary International. He was an avid private pilot and active member of the West Texas Flyers’ Organization. One of his favorite hobbies was flying his Cessna 182 and he had earned his pilot license at the age of 45. Howard was very proud of his achievements in the Odessa scouting program.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Karlyn Elizibeth Henderson Houston, son Samuel Christopher Houston, brother Milton Houston of Artesia New Mexico, and sister Eudell "Dell" Gunnels of Clovis New Mexico.
He is survived by wife of 7 years, Sandra Dawn Houston of Odessa Texas; daughter Suzan Marie Houston of Odessa Texas; son Fred William (Bill) Houston of San Angelo, David M Houston of Midland Texas, and son Howard Charles Houston of Odessa Texas; grandchildren Kayla Bryant of Odessa, Houston Golden of Odessa, Corey Houston of Albuquerque New Mexico, Chance Houston of Amarillo Texas, and Balee Easterling of Brownwood Texas. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
A life celebration service will be held Saturday, July 31st, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home (6801 E Business 20, Odessa Texas) with Reverend Dr. Ed Williamson officiating.
In lieu of flowers it is encouraged to make donations to Odessa Downtown Lions Club.
