Ida Pearl Gibbs passed away from this life on March 7, 2017 at her home in Odessa. Ida was born in Carmel, California on November 18, 1935 to Jesse and Allyne Henington. She grew up in Tatum, New Mexico where she graduated High School. She married the love of her life, Mervin Lee Gibbs on Oct. 3, 1952 in Tatum, New Mexico and lived in Odessa where they raised their children - Diane, Cathy, Mervin Lee Jr., Doris and Tim.

Ida Pearl lived life to its fullest, working full time while raising her family with a positive outlook in life. She loved to paint and made her daughters clothes for formal events. She also enjoyed embroidering and stitching wall hangings. Ida Pearl enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. If you ask Ida why she drove so fast, it's because "I should have already been there." Her favorite saying was; "I can do this" despite her health hardships.

Ida Pearl is survived by her children, Diane Newport and husband Ricky of Abilene, Cathy Vetterman and husband Larry of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Mervin Gibbs of Odessa, Tim Gibbs and wife Celia of Midland, Texas. 12 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Ida Pearl will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
