Ida Mcconnell

Ida Angeline McConnell, 79 of Odessa, died July 6, 2009 at Home Hospice House. She was born April 6, 1930 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to John Richard and Audrey Dykes Townsend. Ida was married to Charles Benton and later married Louis McConnell. She has lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana prior to coming to Odessa in the early 1980s. Mrs. McConnell was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Herman, Clarence, and George Townsend, her sisters; Oma Logan and Mildred Townsend and one granddaughter Farrah Lashay Patton.

Survivors include her sons; Larry Benton and wife Tracey of Deer Lodge, TN, Darrell Benton of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Mike Benton and wife Valerie of Pittsburgh, PA., and Glenn McConnell and wife Yvonne of Dallas, TX. Daughters; Sue Richardson and husband Randy of Sterling, KS, and Audrey Branum and husband Jerry of Odessa. Brother Hershel Townsend of Oklahoma, sisters; Emma Graham of California, Mollie Day of Tennessee, and Ima Jean Pitts of Texas. 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bill Cook officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
