Ildefonso Paredes

January 5, 1942 — October 4, 2009

Our beloved Dad, Ildefonso Paredes, is now at peace after a hard battle with cancer. On Sunday, October 4, 2009 he joined his true love of 40 years, our Mother, Diane who preceeded him in 2001.

He is now with his daughter, Petey, his mom and dad and others he loved during his life.

A brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and good friend to many are a few of the many hats Ilde has worn during his life.

A master of his craft, design he owned and operated LDs Printing, Paredes Press and the Permian Basin Entertainment Guide, for over 40 years.

His motivating and zest for life made him one of the charter members for the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Abilene Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Mexican American Network of Odessa, M.A.N.O.

Born and raised in Colorado City on January 5, 1942 to Benardo and Guadalupe Paredes, he was a devout Catholic, a Crusillista, Guadalupano and a Knight of Columbus.

Civically, an active member of the Odessa Basin Lions Club in his younger years.

While raising his family, he helped his older brother manage the Continental Trailways Bus Station during the time Odessas downtown was alive and booming with the theaters, diners and assorted booming department stores, all the while cops walked the beat. At the same time, he also worked at the Odessa American, Motherall Printing, and owned a night lounge in Midland. As his children grew, he even wore the hat of professor Paredes when he worked at the Odessa College printing and mail department.

The health of his dad, prompted a move to Abilene, re-establishing his printing company there for over 10 years. He was pulled back to Odessa in 1988, this is where he wore the hat of Dad for the next 21 years. A hat that can never be replaced or worn by anyone other than him.

He is survived by his children, Jane Paredes Aguilar and husband Ruben G., Jose Luis Paredes, Belinda Montes and husband Vico and Dinah Olivas, widow of Danny Olivas, all of Odessa.

Brother Ismael Paredes and wife Delia of Brownsville, Abel Paredes and wife Adelina of Midland and sister Irene Paredes of Abilene, sister-in-law, Alicia Ramirez and husband Elias, and brother-in-law, Oscar Blinky Ramirez, of Fort Stockton.

His immediate family grew to bless him as a grandfather in 1980, and granted him 8 granddaughters and 8 grandsons, Elsa, Patricia, Jassamine Jo, Jo Ann, Cristina, Cristal, Angelica, and Justine, David, Ricky Tweety, Adrian, Jose Ildefonso, Christopher, Victor, Andre, and Jacoby. Which in turn blessed him as great-grandpa in 1995 with 11 great grandchildren and counting, Marina, Pricilla, Reyna, Angelina, Peyton, Joe Angel, Marcos, Ricky, Jr., Nathan, Damain and Julian, all of Odessa.

The main list of all who could, would and did call him Dad is too numerous to leave anyone out, so to his legacy,

Dad is now with Mom.
