Iris Gonzales

November 1, 1967 — January 4, 2025

Odessa

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Iris Salcido Gonzales, who left us on January 4, 2025. She was 57 years old.

Iris was a devoted Christian, a woman of unwavering faith who found comfort and strength in her relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church in Midland, Texas, where her kindness and dedication to her faith made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Iris also worked for many years with the Midland Independent School District (MISD), where she touched the lives of many students, colleagues, and families.

Above all, Iris cherished her family. She was a loving wife to Javier, whom she married on May 30, 1986, and shared a beautiful life together for 38 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her love was unconditional, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting presence of her caring spirit.

While we will deeply miss her, we take comfort in knowing that she is now free and in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As Scripture says, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Her faith and love will continue to guide us as we hold her memory close in our hearts.

Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe R. and Susana O. Salcido, brothers Frank and Rogelio Salcido, and her daughter, Suzette Adelaida Gonzales.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Javier Gonzales; her son, Jeremiah Gonzales, and his wife, Diana; her daughter, Ilena Carrasco, and her husband, Miguel; her son, Javan Gonzales, and his wife, Mia Barreraz; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Nehemiah, Nathaniel, Juliana, Eliam, Adelaida, Matizyn, and Alex. She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Visitation: Saturday 1-11-2025, from 3pm-9pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Visitation: Sunday 1-12-2025, from 1pm-4pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home then her body will be moved to Hope Alive Church 305 E 19th St from 5pm-9pm with a prayer service at 7pm.

Rest in peace, Mama/Nana. You are forever loved and never forgotten.
