Irvin J. Reiner, M.D., of Odessa, TX passed away in his home on the evening of September 4, 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 on Sunday, September 7th at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rabbi Sidney Zimelman officiating.
Irv was born in New Orleans, LA. to Israel Jacob Reiner and Cilia Reiner on September 9, 1930.
Irvin received his Doctorate of ObstetricsGynecology from LSU Medical School and served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force from 1955 1957 before finishing his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. After his residency he moved to Houston, TX where he held a private practice for 38 years. In 1998, Irv and his wife, BJ, moved to Odessa, TX where he became a Professor at Texas Tech University, Health Science Center, where he was employed until the time of his death. He was very active for many years in the CAF in Houston he was a private pilot his favorite pastime. Over many years he received numerous awards in the field of medicine as well as authored many articles in medical journals.
Irvin is preceded in death by his parents, Israel Jacob and Cilia Reiner, his sister, Dorothy and grandson Robert Reiner.
Irvin is survived by his spouse, B.J. Reiner, his children, Michael Reiner, Seth Reiner, Daniel Reiner, Karyn Thomas, Douglas Crisp, Nanci Crisp along with their spouses, Grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Joshua, Jacob, Carl, Alex, Madison, Hunter, Harlee and Addilyn and his extended family at TTUHSC and all his Buddies at Mikes.
Pallbearers: Michael Reiner, Seth Reiner, Danny Reiner, Doug Crisp, Jacob Reiner, Ted Nicholson and Michael Hedrick.
