A Celebration of Life for Iwana Jones Trout

Known to nearly all as MeMaw or Mom Trout, Iwana Jones Trout left a legacy of love when she passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on February 16, 2019.

Born March 16, 1924 to the late B.G. and Georgia Bee Martin Jones in the Rock Springs community near Winnsboro, TX. Iwana was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and attended East Texas State College in Commerce. In 1945, she married J.C. Trout, the love of her life, with whom she had two sons, Mike and Pat. J.C. worked many years in the oilfield, and his work carried the family to Mississippi, Oklahoma, and finally Odessa in 1949. Iwana and J.C. spent 55 happy years together, until his passing in 1999.

Iwana's lifelong bond with her sister, Charline was full of joy and great fun. In their later years, the two would go by themselves to our home in Ruidoso, happy to be snowed in as long as they could get to the casino. She also loved playing the slots when Mike's wife, Carol, was with her to tell her if she won or lost. She had a lucky gift for winning, and for making all her loved ones feel like winners alongside her. Indeed, she had a gift of making others feel loved as soon as they met her. As a devoted Christian, her worn Bible was evidence of her love of church and God.

Iwana's final years were spent at Madison Resort in Odessa, and she loved to walk the halls with her friend Mrs. Tyson three times a day when they felt good, which was nearly every day. She loved the staff that went out of their way to be there for her, and they became like family to her and all her family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iwana is preceded in death by her brother, J.D. Jones.

Iwana is survived by her sons, Mike Trout and his wife, Carol, Pat Trout and his wife, Donna; sister, Charline Sorrels; brothers, Bill Jones and his wife, Betty, Ray Dan Jones; grandchildren, Jason Trout, Laura Maes, Jason Carter, Shelley Nail and Melissa Trout; 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bob Bullard, Justin Gann, Eddy Pomroy, Steve Cox, Lynn Homsey and Gary Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clark, Bill Hefner, Cliff Ray and Danny Brinlee.

The name Iwana means "God is gracious", and He was indeed gracious to bless us with Mom for almost 95 years.
