J.C. JOHNSON, JR.

Services will be held for J.C. Johnson Jr., 84, at Sunset Memorial Chapel at 9:30a.m. Tuesday, June 10th with burial in Moran, Texas at 4pm. Visitation will be Monday, June 9, from 4-6pm.

Mr. Johnson passed away on June 5, 2008 at Medical Center Hospital.

J.C. was born in Eldorado, Texas on May 24, 1924 to the late James Clarence Johnson and Virginia Clara Wheeler Johnson. He was the youngest of four children. Deceased, his Brother Cecil Ray, and sisters Dahlia Fay Lowe and Jessella Lynn. J.C. married Francis Yvonne Brooks on June 15, 1947 in Lamesa, Texas and enjoyed 56 years of marriage before her passing in 2003.

He came to Odessa during the 1950s. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

In 1962, their son Johnny Tropal Johnson was born in Odessa, Texas. Johnny has two children, Brittney Davone Johnson and Cody Blake Johnson. J.C. also has an adopted son, Don Brooks and sons Jake and Jayme of Odessa. Additional survivors include his nephews, Jim Lowe of Duncanville, Texas and Jerry Johnson of Sonora, Texas and a niece Peggy L. Barron of Lamesa.

J.C. retired from Delta Drilling Company as a drilling superintendant after 25 years of service and lived out the remainder of his years in Odessa.

J.C., the last of the real cowboys, saddled his final horse, climbed on, took the reins then rode into heaven.
