Jack May

Jack Gordon May went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 27, 2022.

Jack was born in Odessa, TX, on December 16, 1943, and was the son of Judy and Elbert May.  Jack attended Odessa High School and graduated in the class of 1962.  On December 23, 1972, he married the love of his life, Deborah Lou Sparks, after knowing each other for only 6 short months.  They went on to have two children, Jody Lynn May (daughter) and Jason Chad May (son).

Jack had a love for all things cars, he loved hot rods, racing and the classics his entire life. He owned his own conversion shop, a used car lot and was always helping others find their dream hotrod, original of course.  Jack was a charter member of the West Texas Street Rod Association that was founded in 1972, with his most dear friends. Jack loved weekly cruising at the local drive in and loading up his family to go on “Rod Runs” across the state in old cars.  Jack always loved his family and later in life he adored his grandkids, nothing would make his eyes light up more than spending time with his grandkids.

Jack is survived by his wife, Debbie May; daughter, Jody May Saulsbury and her husband Matt Saulsbury; son, Jason May and his wife Candice May; grandchildren, Zane Saulsbury, Parker, Hayden and Blaine, London, and Mallory; and his sister, Carol Hanson and Rohn Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judy and Elbert May.

Pallbearers will be Bill Norman, Warren Russell, Lucky Robinson, Gene Mathews, Jimmy Austin, Jerry McGee, Darrin Farrill and Josh Farrill.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Mahone, Jimmy Gaylor, Mike McCann, Stanley McCallum, Melvin McCallum and Ronnie Smith.

Please join us in celebrating Jack’s life on Friday June 3, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas. The family asks anyone with old cars or hot rods to please drive them to the service as a tribute to Jack.
