James Barnes, Jr.

James "Jim" Allen Barnes Jr., age 81, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his home in Odessa, TX.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Byron McWilliams of First Baptist Church will officiate the service in the chapel. There will be a graveside military burial presented afterwards at the gravesite by the local honorable VFW.

Jim was born in Rotan, TX to James Allen Sr. and Callie Barnes on February 5, 1937. Jim graduated high school in Roby and attended one year of college before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on September 28, 1956. He was a successful entrepreneur that had many small business ventures and was the president of Executive Leasing's & Equipment and Liberty Motors in Odessa, TX.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents (James Sr. and Callie), his mother-in-law (Marie Cooke), his brother-in-laws (Reverend Bill D. Cook and G.H. Cain), and nephew (Conley Cook).

Jim was a tender-hearted, loving man that would give the shirt off his back to those in need and had a soft spot for wildlife. He married his wife of 46 years, Sandra Cooke Barnes on November 17, 1972.

Jim is survived by his wife Sandra, his sisters (Dorothy Cook, Nita Hardin, and Peggy Cain), his children (Anthony Barnes, Monica Barnes and spouse Neal, Monique Bilyeu and husband Dustin, Tharren Barnes and wife Mary), his grandchildren (Kooper Barnes, Colton and Brody Bilyeu, Kylee Barnes, Jaeda, Christian and Cian Talavera, and Justus Brown), as well as his nieces and nephew. Thank you, James Allen Barnes, for your beautiful contribution to this earthly home in order to lay a path for our heavenly one.
