James Michael Byrd, age 20, of Odessa, TX left this world October 23, 2017 at his residence into his Heavenly Fathers arms.
Promoted to Specialist James M. Byrd grade E-4 Unit 985 Quarter Master Detachment was born January 23, 1997 in Odessa, TX to Esther and Christopher Byrd.
James graduated from Permian High School 2015. He was a dedicated soldier in the United States Army Reserve as their Mechanic. Always patriotic since the age of 4 and enlisted into the Army Reserve by age 17. He was known for always thinking of others, his knack for cars, making others laugh and that vibrant big smile of his and beautiful blue eyes. Known as "Bubba" to his little sister. Words cannot express the loss of such a beautiful person. He will be greatly missed by many who loved him. Even though the being is gone, his spirit lives on.
James is preceded in death by his grandfather Byrd and his Aunt Cheree Carroll.
He is survived by his mother, Esther Byrd; father, Chris Byrd; sister, Jordan Byrd; grandparents, Linda and Lawrence Sudnick, Ken and Pat Carroll; aunt, Becky Carroll; uncle, Kevin Carroll and cousins. He also leaves many of his extended family and many very close and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 30, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa, with Pastor Aaron Shipman, officiating. Burial with Military farewell will follow in the "Last Supper" Section at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dinner will be provided in memory of James after cemetery services at Bible Baptist Church at 2801 Lola St., Odessa, TX.
