James Weaver

March 18, 1943 — October 23, 2013

James Edwin Weaver, 70, of Odessa, Texas, was called to join our Lord on October 23rd in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm8:00pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Friday, October 25th. Funeral Services and burial will be Saturday, October 26th, 4:00pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Charles Johnson officiating.

James was born in Seagraves, Texas to J.D. Weaver and Marie Bennett on March 18th, 1943. He attended schools in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1961. James joined the United States Marine Corp in 1964 and was honorably discharged as an E5 Sergeant in 1968. Semper Fi He married Mary Hodges on September 27th, 1968 at Midland Memorial Hospital after a burn accident postponed their original wedding plans. James worked for Cardinal Chemical Inc. for almost 10 years before joining his father in Weaver Trucking Inc. which he closed and retired from in 2000. James loved spending time at their lake house and was an excellent waterski teacher. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting after he retired and watching the Texas Rangers. He truly enjoyed his family and will be missed so much.

James was preceded in death by his father J.D., mother Marie, stepfather Gene Elliott, and father and mother in law, Hoover and Viola Hodges.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Mary, daughters Bonnie Phillips and her husband Bo, Jaye Nabarrette and her husband Chris, all of Odessa and loving stepmother Hazel Weaver of Abilene, Texas. Sisters Glenda Kratzer of Katy, Texas and Teresa Woodard of Abilene, Texas, brothers Gary York of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Billy York of Midland, Texas. His beloved grandchildren include Paige and Brody Phillips, and Chance and Colby Nabarrette. James will also be truly missed by his loyal dog Roxie.

Pallbearers will be Brent Musser, Cindy Musser, Jim Woodard, Trea Spangler, Paige Phillips, Brody Phillips, Chance Nabarrette and Colby Nabarrette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, Texas 79761.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to West Texas Cancer Center and Hospice House for the warm and loving care you provided our husband, Daddy and our family.
