James Hicks

James "Sonney" Oren Hicks, age 82 of Odessa, TX, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Shane Branecky of Community Bible Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

James "Sonney" was born February 14, 1935 to Delbert Wilson and Erma Pearl Hicks in Mills County. He went to school in Coleman, TX. He married Irless Imojene Hicks on October 22, 1955 in Odessa, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School. He worked in the oil and gas industry for Pauly Petroleum, Cities Service Oil Company which became Citgo, then Occidental Petroleum and now OXY USA. He served in the Naval Reserves.

James "Sonney" is preceded in death by his wife, Irless Imojene Hicks, younger brother, Delbert Bradley Hicks, mother, Erma Pearl Hicks and father Delbert Wilson Hicks.

He is survived by his son, Delbert W. Hicks II and wife, Cindi; his sister, Beverly Ann Hicks; grandson, Mason Gage Hicks and wife Ashley Dawn; grandson, Preston Harrison Hicks and two great grandchildren, Mason Hadley and Layla Pearl Hicks.
