James Hunter

James Jim Tilden Hunter, 78, of Odessa, passed away on August 2, 2014 in Odessa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Cox officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Jim was born in Wink, TX to James Truit and Julia Nita Hunter on January 14, 1936. He went to school at Monument and Hobbs where he graduated in 1954. He graduated from NM Jr. College and SMU Graduate School of Banking. He worked as a banker for over 35 years in Texas and New Mexico. He served in the US Marines and the Reserves. He was involved in The Rotary, Lions Club, Kiwanis, Robert Moriss Association and he was a Baptist.

Jim is preceded in death by both his parents.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Nell Hunter, daughter Darla Hunter Hamer of Lubbock, son and his wife Paul and Sherry Hunter of Monahans, grandchildren, Kyle Hamer, Jeremy Durr and Haley Hunter.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Jims family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at MCH CICU who cared for Jim with love and compassion and to all those who ministered to us during this difficult time.
