James Jones

James Henry Jim Jones, 84, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2009 in Odessa.

He was born May 10, 1925 in Comanche County to Henry Clinton Jones and Suzanna Elizabeth Hasley. He married Dortha Louise McCaskill on April 27, 1946 in Texhoma, Oklahoma. Mr. Jones worked in the oilfields of West Texas for 45 years. Following retirement he worked as a crossing guard at Barbara Jordan Elementary for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Willie Watts, Dale Lane and Neva Floyd and a brother, Elwyn Ray Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Dortha Jones of Odessa; daughters, Linda Wilson and Letha White and husband Steve, all of Odessa; sons, Larry Jones of Midland, and Garry Jones and wife Diane of Odessa; grandsons, Shane White and wife Jana of Eugene, Oregon, and Justin Steadman of San Angelo; granddaughters, Jade Jones of Midland, Sharon Newell and husband Jeremy of Odessa; great grandchildren, Matthew White of Eugene, Oregon, Madison and Tanner Newell of Odessa; sisters, Lou Evans of Proctor, Texas and Faye Grissom of Odessa; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2009 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Braswell officiating.
