Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, James Harold Peck, loving husband and father of three children passed away at the age of 92. James or Jim as he was called was born on February 26, 1932 in Cement, Oklahoma to Harry and Myrtle Peck. He graduated from Cement High School in 1949. He served a brief time in the Army where he was stationed in Germany. He graduated from Central State College in Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1958. He achieved his Masters of Education from the University of Texas in 1968. He taught Mathematics and Science in various high schools throughout his career. He was an instructor for the Job Corp and helped to establish the Manpower Center in El Paso, Texas where he served as their Deputy Director. He then went back to teaching high school and eventually retired from Judson Converse High School in San Antonio, Texas. After retiring, he got to move to his lake house at Choke Canyon, Texas.

He married Mary Sue Lawhorn on December 12, 1955 and they raised three sons. Jim had a passion for the outdoors and had constant fishing companions of Mary Sue, the boys and lots and lots of friends. He was a member of the Austin Bass Club in the 1960’s. He loved fishing so much he even co-created his own fishing lure, the Aquasonic, which was sold throughout the United States.

Jim was a member of Northside Baptist Church and before that he was a member of Mission Dorado Church. He had a lovely singing voice and enjoyed singing in both choirs. He greatly enjoyed being a part of Cantata’s at both churches and visiting with other members. He never knew a stranger because, once an introduction was made, you felt like he was family. He was a most kind hearted soul, gracious, loving, and treated everyone with such kindness and respect. He was a great listener, good advice-giver, a man of faith, and a true gentleman.
