James Porter, 72, of Gardendale, passed away on May 9, 2016 in Odessa, TX.
In keeping with the wishes of James there will be no funeral services.
James was born in Pecos, TX to Ted and Della Porter on April 14, 1944. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1962. He worked as Merchandiser for Affiliated Foods for 15 years and was in the grocery business for 50 years before retiring at the age of 70. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army as a Teacher.
James is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Robert Murphy Porter and Neil Porter.
James is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jamie and Brandon Terry, son J.R. Blaine Porter, brothers Ted and David Porter and sister Roberta Hartness, three grandchildren McKenna Terry, Colten, and Macie Porter, and former spouse Reba Griffith.
The family of James wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at ORMC.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to any veteran's affairs group in his name.
