Janice Elizabeth Baulch, age 69, of Odessa, TX, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Janice was born June 30, 1948 to Bates and Frankie Baulch in Brownwood, TX. She attended school in Coleman, TX as well as Lovington, New Mexico, where she graduated in 1966. While in school Janice loved participating in sports which eventually led to her coaching girls' volleyball and track.
After graduation, Janice attended New Mexico Junior College and was a member of the first graduating class of NMJC. She continued her education at West Texas State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master of Education degree from WTSU as well as a Master of Administration from UTPB. She began her career in education as a teacher of science at Midland Lee High School. While teaching at Midland Lee, Janice also coached the girls' volleyball and track teams for several years. Her teaching led her to become the Department Chairman for the science department at Midland Lee and eventually, the Director for Science Education for Midland ISD. Janice retired from education in December of 2007 after 36 years educating the children of Midland.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Bates and Frankie Baulch and her brother, David.
She is survived by her sister, Polly Salyards and her husband, Dennis of Odessa, TX; brother, Byron R. Baulch of Odessa, TX; nephews, Stephen Harrison and his wife, Heather of Lubbock, TX, James Harrison and his wife, Denelle of Tucson, Arizona, John Baulch and wife Sarah of New Hampshire; niece, Sarah Elizabeth Baulch of Hereford, TX; as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews and close, lifelong friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, June 8, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Harrison, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers, the people that shared a lifelong friendship with Janice include Cynthia and Sonny Williams, Billy Gilbreath, Patsy Eidson Ward, Judy Eidson Mulder, Margie Fort Bruns, Priscilla Allen Hale and Debbie Sims.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sudhir Amaram, Dr. Timothy George, Dr. Carl Brown, the nursing staff of Medical Center Hospital, Texas Oncology, and Star Hospice of Odessa for the care given to Janice through the years.
