Janice Friedman

Janice Elaine Friedman, age 79, of Houston, passed away on March 29, 2019 in Midland surrounded by her daughters, Lori Perales and Karen Friedman.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rabbi Zimelman of Temple Beth El, officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Janice was born in Houston to Lazar and Carolyn Goldberg on April 25, 1939. She went to school in Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School. She attended college at University of Texas at Austin where she was an active member of Delta Phi Epsilon. She graduated in 1961 and was accepted to medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Janice and Robert Friedman graduated medical school together in 1965. Janice returned to school in 1986 to UTMB to complete a residency in Psychiatry. She practiced Psychiatry in Houston until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009. Janice loved to travel, movies, scuba diving, dancing and spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by her children Lori Perales and spouse Zeke Perales, Karen Friedman and spouse Walter Elliston: her grandchildren Kara Elizabeth Newman, Samuel Isaac Newman and spouse Jamie Newman, and Eliana Lillian Friedman Elliston: her great grandchildren Dillon Thomas Richard, Levi Weldon Jaynes, and Everly Diane Newman.

The family of Janice Friedman wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Manor Park Younger Unit who honored, loved, respected and provided exceptional care to Janice. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Home Hospice. Special thanks to friends Addie Brown and Bob Lewis whom Mom always loved.
