Jeanette Hernandez

Jeanette Elaine Washington Hernandez, age 65 of Odessa, passed away Thursday July 21, 2011 in Odessa.

She was born July 25, 1945 in El Paso, Texas to Tom Nevinger and Edna Wright Nevinger. Her family moved to San Antonio and then to McCamey where her father was the city manager. After graduation from McCamey High School in 1962, she became a beautician and moved to Odessa. She married Dwayne Washington in Odessa on July 12, 1963. In 1995, she married Eliseo Hernandez in Odessa, he died in May 2010. In 1983, Jeanette began a career in the ministry. She pastored Ministries of Faith until 2007 when her health caused her to retire. She moved to the Dallas area in 2010 to be near family. Jeanette devoted her life to serving God and caring for her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Nevinger.

Survivors include her sons, Vance Washington and wife Alissa and Todd Washington and wife Cyndi her grandchildren, Layni, Bayli, Mayci, Sierra, Robby, Torie, Cameron and Caitlyn, all of Odessa her father, Tom Nevinger and wife Joyce of Livingston and the father of her children, Dwayne Washington of Odessa.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for 57 PM Friday, July 22, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Doug Herget officiating.
