Jeffie Knowles

Jeffie Lynn Knowles, age 90, passed away January 15, 2013 at Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa, Texas.

She was born December 16, 1922 in Roscoe, Texas to Jeff Franklin Stephens and Linda Scott Stephens. She was a resident of Odessa for over 65 years and a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings.

Jeffie is survived by her husband of 71 years, Perry Eugene Gene Knowles of Odessa, Texas one daughter, Carole Gene Norwood and husband James of Portland, Texas one son, Stephen Gayle Steve Knowles and wife Harriet Chapman Knowles of Georgetown, Texas two grandsons, Dr. Scott G. Knowles and wife Julia Meurling, and Jeffrey A. Jeff Knowles of Philadelphia, Pa. three granddaughters, Jennifer Ellen Lerma and husband Daniel, Stephanie Gene Knowles, and Melinda Carole Lindy Knowles, all of Austin, Texas and two great grandsons, Gabriel Everett and Mercer Julian Knowles of Philadelphia, Pa. Jeffie is survived by two sistersinlaw, Lois Stephens, of Crowley, Texas and Frances Wicker, of Austin, Texas.

Jeffie was a people person and enjoyed many life long friendships. She was an excellent cook and the consummate homemaker. She devoted her time and energy to raising her children and making a comfortable home for her husband. She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. Jeffie kept the books for her husbands business, the American Electric Company. After retirement, they enjoyed many pleasant trips including a couple of excursions to Hawaii and several Caribbean Cruises.

There will be a visitation from 68 PM on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John McLemore officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
